As a Christian charity we receive no local or central government funding.
All of our income comes from individual and church giving. We have a small but dedicated group of people who give to us monthly by standing order and 5 or 6 churches also have a regular giving commitment to us. Many more people, churches and groups will give us one off cheques and donations through the year.
We have one full time staff member and two part time staff and we have about 30 volunteers who do everything from making food parcels, van driving and schools work to bookkeeping and admin support. As well as wages and volunteer expenses we have a van to keep running, schools materials to buy. office rent and all of the usual running costs of a small charity. We are very grateful to all of our church partners who host our Basics Banks as they all give us the rooms and utilities for free thereby saving us more than £20,000 which it was costing us to rent our own Basics Bank premises.
It costs us £551.85 to run Basics Bank for 1 week.
It costs us £5.74 to feed an individual for 5 days.
It costs us £22.96 to feed a family of 4 for 5 days.
It costs us £80 to do a school assembly.
It costs us £930 to run a Question of Faith day in a School.
In this period of financial hardship and recession people are understandably having to cut back and giving has decreased, consequently our costs are currently (October 2010) running at between £1000 and £2000 more than our income each month. We have cut our costs massively over the past year and would value your support if you can give it.
